About

The same question, twice.

One body of work. Five branches. One systems-based inquiry running through all of it.

Origin
EGYPTIAN PYRAMIDS
HOW AND WHY THEY WERE BUILT
6th Grade Social Studies
The Seed

In sixth grade, a social studies project on the Egyptian pyramids. The grade has been forgotten. The question - how did they build them - has not.

The Tools

Thirty-plus years of aerospace, mechanical, and systems architecture engineering. Program management across complex, high-stakes programs. A methodological toolkit built in actual practice, not in the abstract.

The Return

At some point the tools and the question were in the same place at the same time. Latent Architecture is what happened. Applied Systems Synthesis is the framework that emerged.

The Pattern

The same instinct runs through everything else: find the hidden structure, trace the real system, name what is actually happening versus what is described. Not a metaphor - a method. Five branches, one way of seeing.

Background
Education and Credentials
  • BS Aerospace Engineering, WVU (1997)
  • BS Mechanical Engineering, WVU (1997)
  • MS Systems Architecture and Engineering, USC (2004)
  • US Patent 10,656,168 B2 - co-inventor (2020)
  • ORCID: orcid.org/0009-0007-0372-322X
Engineering and Program Management
  • Aerospace and mechanical engineering - dual-discipline
  • Systems architecture and complex systems analysis
  • Automated systems and medical device development
  • Large-scale program execution and diagnostics
  • Decision architecture and risk modeling
Independent Practice
  • Research - Giza plateau, ancient construction, US constitutional systems
  • Writing - experimental nonfiction
  • Advisory - systems and execution
  • Publishing - Three Labs Press

The dual BS degrees at WVU - aerospace and mechanical simultaneously - established the engineering foundation. The USC MS in Systems Architecture and Engineering formalized the integration of those disciplines into a systems-level practice. US Patent 10,656,168 B2 (co-inventor, 2020) - automated processing systems, issued to Roche Tissue Diagnostics (formerly Ventana Medical Systems, a member of the Roche Group).

Five Branches - Why Each Exists
Three Labs PressThe work kept producing outputs that did not fit existing categories. Three Labs Press makes them legible.
Latent ArchitectureA sixth-grade pyramid project. Thirty-plus years later, the tools finally matched the question.
Execution PMYears of watching the same dysfunction patterns recur with no clean language to name them.
Advisory PracticePeople kept asking for the systems read. Advisory Practice is the formalization.
Flying ColumnSome problems require a different kind of entry - bounded, autonomous, defined by its exit.
